Local MP Sheikh Tanmoy expresses deep sorrow and condolences

SM Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of Kachua Upazila Parishad in Bagerhat died yesterday. He breathed his last on Wednesday (May 5) at around 7pm while undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in the capital.

Local MP Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy, in a condolence message, has expressed his deep sorrow and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

He was 67 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by two daughters, two sons and three wives. In the evening, the relatives left for their home with the body of SM Mahfuzur Rahman at the Kachua signboard. His eldest son SM Mehedi Hasan Babu said he would inform about the time of janaza after reaching home.

S Mahfuzur Rahman was suffering from various problems including shortness of breath for several days. He was admitted to Khulna City Medical Hospital in early April. Later when his physical condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the Evercare Hospital in the capital on May 2 after his condition deteriorated while undergoing treatment there.

SM Mahfuzur Rahman was the president of Kachua Upazila Awami League. In 2009, he was first elected as the chairman of Kachua Upazila Parishad as the nominated candidate of Awami League. He was also elected chairman of the Upazila Parishad in 2014. He was elected chairman of Kachua Upazila Parishad for the third time in a row in the last 2019 Upazila Parishad elections.

He has served as the chairman of Raripara Union Parishad three times before. He started his life as a people’s representative as an elected member of the Union Parishad. Earlier, SM Mahfuzur Rahman started his career as a BDR member.
