Police arrested two teen boys for allegedly raping a seven-year-old child in a sugarcane field at Chitalmari in Bagerhat on Friday.
The arrested were identified as Zakir Khan, 16, son of Sujan Khan of Charsailadah Adarsh village in Chitalmari upazila and Shamim Sheikh, 17, son of Haider Sheikh.
Quoting the case filed by the victim’s father, Citalmari Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Shariful Haque said “The two youths raped the child on Thursday (April 22nd) at noon in a sugarcane field next to their house. Hearing the cry of the child, the child’s father rushed to the spot and grabbed two boys red-handed. Later, the child was admitted to Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex by his father.”
Later, the father of the victim filed a rape case with the police station mentioning the names of the two.
Chitalmari police raided the village of Charbaniari in Chitalmari Upazila on Friday (April 23) morning and arrested them, OC added.
On Friday morning, the victim child was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment and medical examination. The arrested were handed over to the court on the same day.
