14 fined for violating lockdown in Sherpur

A Mobile Court on Wednesday fined 14 people to count Tk 2,600 for violating lockdown rules and regulations in Nakla upazila in Sherpur district of the all-out lockdown.

Zahidur Rahman, Nirbahi Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Nakla and Kawsar Ahammad, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate, led the mobile court.

Zahidur Rahman Nirbahi Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Nakla fined Tk 1,700 in 8 cases and Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammad fined Tk 900 in 6 cases.

During the conduct of the court, pedestrians, shopkeepers, traders and buyers were informed about the dangers of the second wave of Coronavirus (Covit-19). UNO Zahidur Rahman and AC Land Kawsar Ahammad said that such courts would continue to operate during the lockdown for the public.

Employees of different levels of the UNO office and Land office of the upazila, members of Nakla police station and local journalists were present at the time.

The Upazila administration, police department and different voluntary organizations are working to make the people aware of the need to implement this lockdown. Moreover, to make the lockdown effective, surveillance has been intensified in different markets at the union level, including at various roads in Nakla municipal town.
