Mobile Court fines Tk 5,400 in Sherpur

A total of Tk 5,400 has been fined for violating lockdown rules and regulations in Nakla upazila in Sherpur district till 5 pm on Monday.

Zahidur Rahman Nirbahi Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Nakla and Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammad led the mobile court.

According to court sources, the fines were imposed for keeping unauthorized shops open without complying with the lockdown, violating transport laws and not wearing masks.

Zahidur Rahman Nirbahi Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Nakla fined Tk 900 in 3 cases and Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammad Tk 1000 in 2 cases under Road Transport Act, Tk 500 in 3 cases under Bangladesh Penal Code 1860 and Tk 3,000 to the owner of an ice cream factory under Consumer Rights Protection Act.

During the conduct of the court, pedestrians, shopkeepers, traders and buyers were informed about the dangers of the second wave of Coronavirus (Covit-19).

Employees of different levels of the UNO office and Land office of the upazila, members of Nakla police station and local journalists were present at the time.

UNO Zahidur Rahman and AC Land Kawsar Ahammad said that such courts would continue to operate during the lockdown for the public.
