COVID-19: Bangladesh records highest deaths in 24 hrs

Dailynewsun Report:

Bangladesh recorded the highest 74 deaths from Covid-19 during 24 hours. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This is the highest number of deaths recorded in the span of a day so far in the country. On April 6 this year, the number was 66.

With these casualties reaches 9,521 and death rate stands at 1.43 percent.

At least 6,854 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 6,66,132, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 20.65 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.55 percent.

A total of 33,193 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am Thursday). At least 3,391 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,65,030 and the recovery rate at 84.82 percent.

Among the 74 deceased, 48 were men and 26 women while one was between 21-30 years old, five within 31-40, six between 41-50, 16 within 51-60 and 46 were above 60 years old, added the release.
