Bangabandhu’s birth centenary, Nat’l Children Day celebrated in Chitalmari

The birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and  National Children’s Day-2021 were celebrated in festive mood through various events at Chitalmari upazila in Bagerhat district.

On the occasion of the day, at the initiative of Chitalmari Upazila Administration and Upazila Parishad, a wreath was laid on the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of Sheikh Helal Uddin, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-1 constituency at 9:30 am on Wednesday (March 17) at the Upazila premises.

Later, leaders of various socio-cultural organizations including Upazila Administration and Parishad, Upazila Awami League, Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad, Chitalmari Thana, Upazila Juba League, Upazila Chhatra League, Bangabandhu Sanskrit Jote, Upazila Health Complex and others paid their respects.

At the end of paying homage, a colorful procession came out from the Upazila Chattar and ended at the same place after going around the main roads of Sadar Bazar. At this time, the birthday of the Father of the Nation was officially celebrated by cutting a 100 pound cake at the upazila premises.

Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashok Kumar Baral, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Liton Ali, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC Land) Jannatul Afroz Swarna, Upazila Awami League President Md. Babul Hossain Khan, General Secretary Piyush Kanti Roy, Upazila Health and Family Officer Dr. Mamun Hasan, Thana Officer in Charge (OC) Mir Shariful Haque, Sadar UP Chairman and Vice President of Upazila Awami League Sheikh Nizam Uddin, Joint General Secretary Sheikh Keramat Ali and various political, social and cultural organizations and teachers and students of different institutions were present in the program.
