Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebrated in Bagerhat

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary and National Children’s Day is being celebrated in Bagerhat with various colorful events in Bagerhat district.

The day’s program started at 8 am on Wednesday with artillery and hoisting of the national flag in all government and non-government organizations.

The day was celebrated featuring- wreath-laying at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, joy rally, national anthem in Shatakanthe and prayer mahfil.

Later, wreaths were laid on the portrait of Bangabandhu at the central Shaheed Minar premises by the District Administration, District Police, District Awami League and its affiliated organizations and various government and non-government organizations of the district.

At this time special prayers were offered for the souls of all the martyrs including Bangabandhu, national anthem was sung and joyous rallies were held in the city.

Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner(DC) ANM Faizul Haque, Superintendent of Police(SP) KM Ariful Haque, District Awami League General Secretary Bhuiyan Hemayet Uddin and other levels of government and non-government organizations,
Officers, local Awami League leaders were present.

Other activities throughout the day include children’s drawing competitions, poetry recitals, discussions, meetings, award ceremonies and cultural events.
