Nakla police recovered a hanging body of a young man at Dudher Char village under Pathkata union in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Bahadur Mia (28), son of heroic freedom fighter Abdul Hakim.
The incident took place at midnight on Saturday. Bahadur Mia is a father of two sons. He was a trolley driver by profession.
According to family members, Bahadur committed suicide by hanging himself from the Atafal tree at midnight on Saturday. Sunday morning family members started screaming, after a few times they saw the hanging body.
After receiving the news, the police of Nakla police station recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Sherpur district hospital for autopsy, said Md Mushfiqur Rahman OC of Thana.
Locals said that Bahadur Mia had been addicted to drugs for a long time. The family has been treated with the advice of a doctor. The family members said that he was still undergoing treatment.
Bahadur Mia’s wife Sumi Begum said that her husband had been suffering from mental depression for a long time.
Mushfiqur Rahman Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nakal police station and Mohammad Foyez Millat chairman of Pathakata union parishad confirmed the matter.
