Fifth Police Memorial Day observed in Sherpur

The fifth Police Memorial Day-2021 was observed at Sherpur Police Lines in Sherpur district on Monday in memory of the police personnel of the district who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while maintaining public safety and law and order.

High-ranking police officials placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar on Sherpur Police Lines premises in the morning and observed a one-minute silence to show profound respect to the martyred police personnel.

Later, family members of 17 martyred police personnel placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to their dear ones who were killed on duty. Family members and relatives of 17 martyred policemen were accorded reception and honored on the occasion.

On the occasion, a discussion meeting held at Police Lines Drill Shed, special prayers and gifts were given to the family members of the martyred policemen on behalf of the police department. Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Hasan Nahid Chowdhury and other police officers paid their respects to the martyred policemen of Sherpur with flowers.

SP Md Hasan Nahid Chowdhury presided over the program. In-Service Training Center Sherpur Commandant Abdullah Al Mahmud, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Billal Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters Circle) Abdul Hannan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Mahmudul Hasan Ferdous, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nalitabari Circle) Jahangir Alam, recently departed headmaster Jiban Krishna Basu, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge of DB Monirul Alam Bhuiyan, DIO-1 Mohammad Abul Bashar Mia, brother of martyred Sergeant Ahad MA Hakam Hira, Abul Kalam Azad head teacher of Sherpur Police Line Academy for Creative Education, other officers of DB branch, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of all the police stations in the district, other relatives of the district police, relatives and journalists of different media and 17 police families who sacrificed their lives in the district were also present.

The speakers said Bangladesh Police will remain ever grateful to the policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging duties to maintain law and order making the police force proud. Recalling the contribution of the martyred policemen with due respect. The police force will remember forever with profound respect the supreme sacrifices of the policemen for giving away their lives for maintaining law and order, they added.

After the end of the program, the family members and relatives of the 17 martyred police personnel handed over various gift items on behalf of the district police.
