Md. Kamruzzaman Khan Picklu, Chitalmari, Bagerhat:

An eye-catching mural of the Father of the Nation has been constructed on the initiative of the Upazila administration in front of the Upazila Public Library.

The official inauguration is now awaiting with the laying of the wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation on the historic March 7. The south-facing mural is just to the right of the main entrance to the Upazila Administrative Premises.

The mural of the Father of the Nation was made by Chittalmari’s son, a professional sculptor from Partha Pratim Bala, who has experiences in making excellent sculptures in different parts of the country.

Talking to former student of Fine Arts, Partha Pratim said, “I have got the opportunity to make sculptures or murals of the Father of the Nation in different parts of the country.”

However, this mural in Chitalmari has been created with my passion and the beauty of my mind as the work of my birthplace. “I have worked tirelessly over the last few days to successfully complete the construction of this mural. I am proud to have created a mural of the Father of the Nation,” said the young sculptor.

A few years back, the construction of a sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was completed at the entrance of Chitalmari Upazila Administration premises. It was built on burnt clay plaque by local sculptor Selimuzzaman Thanda Munshi a few years ago.
