Int’l Mother Language Day & Martyrs’ Day being observed in Chitalmari, Bagerhat

International Mother Language Day and Martyr’s Day is being observed in Chitalmari with due dignity through various programs.

Leaders of the political arena and people of different walks of life paid deep homage to the language martyrs at the central Shaheed Minar of Chitalmari on the first morning of Ekushey. In the early hours of February 21, the language martyrs were paid homage by laying wreaths at the Shaheed Bedi.

On behalf of Sheikh Helal Uddin, Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-1 constituency, first laid a wreath at the central Shaheed Minar. After that Chitalmari Upazila Administration and Parishad, Upazila Awami League, valiant freedom fighters, Chitalmari Thana Police, Upazila Health Complex, Zila Parishad, Upazila Awami Juba League, Chhatra League, Swechchhasebak League, Tanti League and various political, social and cultural organizations paid homage to the martyrs laying floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

Tributes were paid by the leaders of Bangabandhu Sanskrit Jote and local leaders of the World Anti-Terrorism Organization (WATO). Leaders of Upazila Durnity Protirodh Committee paid homage at the Shaheed Bedi. Local media workers also paid their due respects to the language martyrs.

Due to the Corona pandemic, a maximum of 5 people from each organization and a maximum of 2 people at the individual level laid wreaths at the Shaheed Minar this year in compliance with the health rules.
