Nineteen homeless families to get dream house from PM in Bagerhat

Altogether 19 landless and homeless families of Chitalmari upazila in Bagerhat are ready to get dream houses as gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Mujib Year.

Landless and homeless families are being provided with a two-room house with a two decimals Khas land settlement under government management in Mujib Barsha. The construction of these houses has already been completed and now it is just waiting for the inauguration of the Prime Minister.

According to the Chitalmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s Office, the government has taken initiative to build new houses for landless and homeless people in category “A” and those who have land but do not have house in category “B” as a gift of Mujib Year to implement the promise of the Prime Minister.

A list of 441 landless and homeless families in category “A” from 7 unions of Chitalmari Upazila
was sent to the concerned ministry. In the first phase, 19 families were allotted land and houses.

In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) Md. Maruful Alam said, these houses have been built under close supervision of the Upazila administration for the landless and homeless as a gift of the Prime Minister in the Mujib Barsha will be their dream address. The construction work of these houses has already been completed. Now we are just waiting for the official inauguration of the Prime Minister. The houses will then be handed over to the listed beneficiaries.

The local upazila administration played a significant role in the construction of these houses by rescuing the khas lands occupied by the influential people, he added.
