Dailynewsun News Desk:
Police arrested four people in Kushtia on charges of damaging the under-construction sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Friday night.

Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat said this in a press release this afternoon.

Of the arrestees, two are students and two are teachers of Ibne Mas-Ud Qawmi Madrasa, our local correspondent cited the press release.

The two students — Abu Bakr and Abu Nahid directly — took part in damaging the sculpture while the two teachers — Amin Hossain and Yusuf Ali — were instigating them to do that.

The arrests were made during a drive in Kushtia city early today, police said.

Earlier in the day, a top police official wishing not to be named said the duo was identified after scrutinising the CCTV footage.

Miscreants partially damaged the under-construction sculpture of Bangabandhu at Panch Rasta intersection in Thanapara area of the city at 2:00am on Friday night.
