The Government of Bangladesh has started this project ( work program) with the aim of providing financial assistance to the financially indigent poor by providing employment. But the opposite picture has been seen in Mansur Nagar Union of the upazila. There were allegations of massive irregularities in the work of this project.
Evidence of the allegations was found by inspecting several work areas of the project on the spot on Saturday.
Locals say that regular work is not done with the workers here. Workers come to the workplace and just sit and talk all the time. And come late and leave early.
Mansur Nagar UP Chairman Abdur Razzak Rajmahar said, “Currently, paddy is being harvested, so there is no labor available for Tk 200. I have spoken to the PIO about this.”
AKM Shah Alam Mollah(PIO) said, “I am aware of the matter. The chairman has been told to stop work if he does not find workers.”
