Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday termed Joe Biden’s win as the next United States (US) president as a blessing for the world expecting that the new US administration will be proactive in maintaining global peace.

“His (Biden’s) win is a blessing for the world. I don’t think that now there would be fear of facing any sudden deviation in world peace,” he told reporters at “Meet the Reporters” programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

Assuming that Biden’s win will be beneficial for migrants in the US, Dr Momen said “We worked with him (Biden) in the past. He has 50 years of political career and he is a mature politician”.

The foreign minister said Bangladesh would work with the Biden led new US administration in four key areas – climate change, migration, trade and investment, reports BSS.

Dr Momen said Dhaka will continue to work on bringing back Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s convicted killer Rashed Chowdhury from USA.

He suggested that the expatriate Bangladeshis should go for a signature campaign in their respective host countries so that Bangladesh can bring back all fugitive convicted self-declared killers of Bangabandhu to execute the court verdict.

Mentioning that the Biden always raises his voice against violations of human rights Dr Momen hoped that the new US administration will be more favourable for Bangladesh in resolving the Rohingya crisis with Myanmar.

DRU President Rafiqul Islam Azad was in the chair while General Secretary Reaz Chowdhury moderated the discussion.
