Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan courted new controversy as he threw away a fan’s phone when the latter was trying to take a selfie in Benapole today.

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan travelled to Kolkata via Benapole checkpost today for business purposes.

Fans went crazy seeing the all-rounder but when one fan named Abdul Majid Sector wanted to take a selfie with the cricketer, Shakib threw away his phone and broke it, reports our Benapole correspondent.

Shakib arrived at Benapole on Thursday and the incident took place at the Benapole check-post passenger terminal after the cricketer had met customs commissioner Azizur Rahman.

The fan reportedly wanted a selfie with the cricketer but Shakib was angered and distraught by his approach.

When the fan was asked to remark on the issue, Majid said: “I’m a fan of Shakib Al Hasan. I never saw him face to face. At Benapole checkpost I couldn’t contain myself but was it a crime to ask for a selfie?

“He angrily took away my phone and threw it onto the floor. My phone was damaged.”

The immigration officer at the Benapole checkpost said Shakib is travelling to India for business.
