Bangabandhu T20: Players’ draft for the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup will be held at a city hotel on Thursday.

The tournament, slated from third week of November, will feature five leading corporate houses of the country.

The teams namely Fortune Barishal, Beximco Dhaka, Minister Group Rajshahi, Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram, will take part in the competition.
BCB took the mandatory fitness test of 113 cricketers who were expected to be in the draft on November 9 and November 10 respectively and only the ones earning the required 11 points in the beep test will be considered eligible for the competition.

The test has been planned to assess the fitness levels of cricketers outside the National Team, High Performance Team and Under-19 setup.

The T20 tournament will be the second competition to be organized by BCB after the emergence of the pandemic. A three-team 50-over competition was recently held, with cricketers and members of the team management placed in a bio-bubble. BCB, meanwhile, is not convinced about hosting the remaining part of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) which is considered to be a major source of income for the majority of cricketers in Bangladesh.

The DPL came to an abrupt halt in March after completion of the first round of the tournament. The players involved in it were hoping for some sort of a roadmap to resume cricket and the upcoming domestic T20 tournament is a step in that direction taken by BCB.
