Raising leprosy awareness in rural level is very necessary and the rich people should extend their helping hands towards the poor in society, said Titas Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rasheda Akhter on Thursday.

She made these remarks as the chief guest while attending student stipend distribution programme organized by The Leprosy Mission International-Bangladesh (TLMI-B) at her office.

UNO also assured that she would instruct officers in her territory to help such activities and raise awareness about leprosy.

Attending the programme, Lovely Provati Mrong, Project Manager, TLMI-B, said they have been supporting families of leprosy patients and persons with disability in the area under ‘Children Support Programme’ of DCBRP.

She also said that “We’ve been helping those vulnerable group of people as they can enjoy equal education rights in society.”

UNO Rasheda Akhter in her closing speech thanked TLMI-B for their activities.

Anthony Quiah, Technical Support Officer, Proyash Project, CDF Shilpi Boiragee and Dipok Das, FF Sonet Boiragee among others were present in the event. ###
